Hello,

What processor type do I go with? Will AM4 be supported longer than Socket STR4? I've done some good reading on Wikipedia about the two different ones. So im not completely clueless as to the differences. Im just thinking with a community like this that someone else had the same conundrum?

I'm an AMD fanboy so suggesting that I go with an Intel will probably fall on def ears.

STR4 is for Threadripper which is designed more for production work and anything that requires lots of cores. AM4 would be the way to go, though it has been around for a while now. AMD promised that AM4 would be in use until 2020 back when Ryzen launched, so I wouldn't expect it to be around for years and years more.
