I have had good luck with LG Monitors / Acer / Asus monitors. With a $200 limit your are only ongoing to get a 1920x1080. If you want to step up in resolution you will have to step up in price.

I hear the monitors with higher refresh rates are mindblowing, but dunno if you'll touch them in that price range.

Yeah the price I have to be firm on for now. I have never had problems with LG either. Just my second monitor died and was looking for a replacement. (sucks going back to one monitor.)

beside the Acer which doesn't have the same stats for the price. Asus or LG both look good to me.

Edit: Went at looked at the pic of the back of both. Asus has all 3 connector choices and the LG only has DVI and VGA. Personally I would buy the Asus based on that I like having more options for connecting it to my computer or devices.

In my experience Acer has had incredibly shitty customer service, for what it's worth.

I've been really happy with the Asus monitors

Its a shame you couldn't go a little farther on the budget and pick up a 2560 x 1440 resolution. Its a nice improvement

This is what I'm probably grabbing for my new build.

Pretty interesting read on 1440p vs. 144hz:

I have three of these Asus monitors in my Eyefinity setup.

With a 1ms response time and thin bezel, they're great for a multi-display setup.
