Lunchbox was created by garfi3ld
Ive been wanting to pick up a gaming laptop or something similar for a while now. Due to the cost of a gaming laptop I decided to try out a small form factor rig. I put it together last night, what do you guys think?

i may do a few things to it, but its more about being easy to carry around.

14.5 pounds but I may look at changing a few things around just to take it down a little more

I wondered what happened to the shuttles? I remember back when i owned part of a PC shop we had lost of these for sale, but i haven't seen them anywhere in a while. Is the Technology finally to a point where you can get these to play the good games without needing the huge case? Must be if Garfi3ld's got one! Do you plan on taking this and your other one (Big Orange)to LAN's or just the Jr.?

shuttle is still around, you just don't see them much in the gaming community because everyone wants more room. The plan is to just be able to take lunchbox to most LANs, only packing up my large rig every once in a while.

The shuttle tech itself is most than enough to play games on them as long as you get the models that can fit larger video cards. They even had an i7 model, but you won't be running 5870's in them due to the size also.

I had a couple of old SFFs. The last case was a Ultra Fly, I think I may've taken it to the last lanoc. They're nice, and being that it had a handle, it was easy to lug around.. although considering you still have to lug a monitor and a zillion accessories, it didn't make that big of a deal (but I mostly went to small lans, and not too often). I've been thinking of going back to one with my next build, however far out that may be, with a SSD to help minimize space utilized. I'll probably lag on with my current Q6600 setup for some time, as there's a zillion things related to the house I need/want to spend money on.

I would've tried to get something a little larger that would've supported a 5870 or similar, but being realistic, that's not really needed (unless you're doing eyefinity)

Thanks!

And no Dave, he still hasn't painted it.

I also built a 2nd shuttle called "blue" that we used in our gaming on the go write-up. I love that I can stack three on top of each other and they are about the same hight as my normal rigs.
