After much deliberation - Laptop

For some time now I have wanted a gaming laptop. With the site continuing to grow and the need for more trips away from the office. I decided that I needed to get a laptop to be able to be a mobile office. My netbook is great and more than capable of jumping online day to day, im posting from it now even. But I needed something with the largest screen I could find, and enough power to do both photo and video editing. Gaming was not a requirement, but a bonus. Infact my original budget was looking at cheap 17 inch laptops. After a bump in the budget, I found myself looking again and came across a few deals on gaming laptops. Last night I bit the bullet and placed my order. It was a hard decision. It came down to more performance or style.

I decided to go with a bump in performance with the TOSHIBA Qosmio X505-Q865

Intel® Core™ i5-430M processor
18.4 inch screen
7200 rpm hd
Nvidia 360GTS video card
great speakers

DAMN nice pick. but I still think that eventually you'll regret going with such a large laptop.

I guess that could just be me. With as much as I travel I regret my 17"

Yeah, I think 15.4" is the largest I'd ever shoot for.

Still though, that's a pretty kickin' laptop. Should do you well.

I agree with what you are saying Cory. Do you take your laptop from the hotel to your job site also? I really just need something to set up a "mobile office" at a hotel or away from my desk, even at a lan. My netbook should fill in the gaps

I do but its not just that. Long layovers and Delayed/ canceled flights. I just hate to pull it out its not really comfortable on my "LAP"
And its not just games. I even hate typing up reports because of it.
I guess from the moment I started lugging it around I felt that if I had a smaller Notebook I could have it more powerful for the same price and when I'm using it for gaming attach it to a monitor.
And for the occasions I just have to play and I'm on the road I could suffer through a 15" screen.
But by no means think that I don't approve of your choice.
I'm Really quite jealous I'm just trying to mask it by a continues string of Bitching lol.

lmao, no problems at all. I think that what im looking for the larger laptop will work out. But if your case, I can see how the smaller laptop would help you. Of course, it could be worse. You could be taking your full pc on trips with you. :-p

ran home on lunch to see if i could meet the UPS guy, was worried it may require a signature. The laptop was here waiting for me, he was about 5 minutes ahead of me.

Just setting it up really quick. Sitting next to my 27.5 inch monitor it seems normal sized. But in a way the screen reminds me of one of my 23 inch monitors lol
