Games Done Quick

The Summer GDQ stream *is about a month out*. Essentially they speed run select games, sometimes solo sometimes head-to-head, and certain runners offer incentives, extra objectives in addition to the run if they reach a certain donation point. Here is a quick snippet from their site if you haven't heard of them before:

"Games Done Quick is a charity video game marathon. The event features high-level play by speedrunners, playing for donations from viewers of the event. Games Done Quick has worked with several charities in its history, including Doctors Without Borders and the Prevent Cancer Foundation."

The full scheduled can be found here , it auto-adjusts for your local time zone. I caught their winter event and it was really addicting to watch. They stream on Twitch and are usually the reason why you see some odd titles in the top-watched.

The Megaman and Zelda titles are always a good watch, I'm interested in the Pikmin run as well. They are also doing a "solo co-op" of Portal 2, where one player will run co-op mode, so that will be interesting to see.

Man, you got me all excited there for a minute. SGDQ is in June, so just under a month now.

Now what am I going to watch??

My ability to read dates aside, they have been doing spotlights and hype streams leading up to it this past week, so keep an eye out on Twitch. I was watching a Megaman X/X2 run earlier.

Okay, so this actually starts today, in about an hour with the first run being Super Mario 3D World.

I've been watching over the last few days. Really enjoying the show.

When it started last Sunday, I tried playing games while I watched and was completely distracted. I've been watching at least nightly and every chance I've had in between.
