Q3 Game Releases

Just thought I would get the ball rolling here in the games discussion forum.

What releases have got everyone excited this holiday season? I know a lot of things have been pushed back until 2010 but there's still some really cool titles coming out before Christmas.

Games I'm stoked for:

COD Modern Warfare 2: Never played the first one but super psyched for the sequel.

Tropico 3: One of the most interesting strategy games I've seen since Civ 4.

Uncharted 2: Loved the first one. Now I'm hearing that the second is absolutely dope!

The Saboteur: Looks like it might be one of the best single player experiences this fall.

Left 4 Dead 2: I know it's only been a year since the first game but who doesn't want to kill more zombies?

These are just a few of the titles I'm excited about let's here what you guys think.

CoD is the only one I'm half interested in playing. And only because it will be THE game at lan parties. I wouldn't mind playing L4D2. But, I haven't really put that much time in the first one. So, I could take it or leave it. The only way I'll pick it up is if it's on mega discount and they're practically giving it away.

Agreed on Left 4 dead 2 Nacelle.

I Pre-ordered the first one which was a fine purchase but this time around I'm gonna wait for the Steam sale of like $24.99 or something. If I can even get it at the time. Trying to save some money so I can join Wes in Vegas in January.

I just do'nt understand the draw of L4D... The only way i think i could get better is to learn the exploits of all the maps or to be able to run through it as fast as possible in order to win. It's just a basic point and shoot with out much depth from what i've seen so far. Maybe playing it more this weekend will change my mind, but i doubt it.
Also i still have no idea how to get into a game and if the people i'm playing with are good or not. It's like you get into a game and you have to yell at the one new guy because they die too quickly. TF2 is more my style where there is some strategy and balance between the teams. Plus you can join the same servers and play with the same people and form online friendships, L4D seems to be all random and hopefully you do'nt get stuck with me on your team lagging behind because it's a race to the end, and killing zombies is a secondary objective...

While I agree on the part of L4D feeling very random and you don't stick to the same servers, I very much enjoy using the steam friend's list for finding people. In general when I play if I have a really good run, I'll friend the people I was with so that the next time I'm on, I just join up on them.

I'm not very excited about L4D2 as its so close to the first one and I haven't seen anything that makes me wanna drop another 50 on this game. My buddy is getting it and I'm going over his house to make my judgment call.

As for other games... nothing in Q3. I'll have to make another thread for just Upcoming releases I'm looking forward too.

Yeah I know. I seemed to miss the boat on that one. It's more of a console shooter right? I'm sure the PC version was fine but wasn't the lead version for the 360?

Maybe. I only ever played the PC version.

I guess that's why half the people i play with want to add me to their friends list. I just thought they were in need of people on their list. I didn't think of that being a way to play with the same people. Good Suggestion

At Stompfest EVERYONE was playing CoD4. We were lucky to get more than 6 in the TF2 server. I like CoD. Just not enough to play all day.

L4D is repetitive and pointless. so i assume l4d2 will be the same.
MW2 i think will be one of the best selling games this season.
Saboteur i'm sure will turn heads but i fear that it will just end up being a grind-fest of kill all the Nazis or sneak behind them and finish the mission.

I forgot about console crap...

In that case, I'm looking forward to Mario Bros for Wii as well, that will be a blast with my friends.

Also, big time can't wait for Borderlands! Comes out October 20th, check it out, going to be a RPGFPS with a diablo style item system. Very very cool game, its releasing on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 at the same time. I will probably be picking it up for the X360 and maybe PC later, most of my friends that want to play it are going for the 360 unfortunately.
