V9.0 Games was created by garfi3ld
Its that time of year again, we would love to heard everyone's game suggestions for LanOC v9.0 August 27th and 28th. As always games that require little or no internet are always nice to keep the internet load to a minimum.

A few off the top of my head

TF2 (its free, everyone has it now)
Homefront (dedicated lan servers)
Brink (dedicated lan servers)
Crysis Wars
Worms Reloaded
Trackmania
Killing Floor
Left 4 Dead 2
Dirt 3

Monday Night Combat (dedicated lan server)
StarCraft I
FlatOut 1 or 2 (I believe we did flatout 2 a few lans ago)

Idea... we could do an audiosurf or Beat Hazard have everyone play through the same song, high score wins. Or do to 2 or 3 songs, and have a couple rounds. It would be something that could happen in between tournaments.

Just a thought.

This may be nonstandard, but what about Mount and Blade? I know Fire and Sword has a co-op option and can support a ridiculous amount of players.

Of course, to get it to do LAN we'd have to use Hamachi.

Also, ARMA2.

Ok, so I am kicking around the idea I posted above, but I would like to know if you guys have any other games that might work well for this type of set...

The idea is a walk up game, you play through a song/round/level and the best score wins... Now it can be pretty much be anything that would be easy to track a score. I am still looking at PC games for the most part but throw anything out so I can look into those game too.

Audiosurf and Beat Hazard are the two that I have at the moment, but I know there are more out there.

As for PC LAN game we need more input what do you guys want to see for tournament LAN games?

We spoke about this through PM but I like the idea of Audiosurf or something similar. Although this would REQUIRE a headset. In fact any game that we have to repeat like that will need a headset.

Would trackmania would in this setup?

ya, I think it would, because you get a score for each course completed. So high score would work.

I like the Audiosurf idea, tried to get that off the ground last lan but didn't take off. It would be great to see it work this time. I had a list of great challenging songs all prepared and no body took interest.

Definitely want to see an MNC tourney. I've been practicing.

If we setup a tf2 server or look at the possibility of a TF2 tournament ay feedback on settings? Medieval mod? I personally would like to see no loadout weapons if it was a tournament

I just realized I've abandoned all Blizzard games.
It does feel like something is missing from the list, but I'm not sure. Since there are only 12 people, I'm hoping we all have similar games available. And not a bunch of GaduS. (+1 to whoever gets that)

TF2 medieval sounds great. I really don't want to reinstall Homefront ever again. DoW 1 could work maybe? I can't remember if that supports 12 or not.

Why no Homefront? I think in a lan setup it could be a lot of fun

Oh. Yeah. I guess it is 9.0.
Reading helps.
The lack of Blops spam confused me. ;P

Then, GTA4? I'd like to see the group of us with it possibly mess around on it.
And Homefront is a huge grind-y camper mess IMO, probably wouldn't be so bad in lan but it's just gotten to be a constant uphill battle to me. Maybe Brink has spoiled me with actual class differences, teamwork, and the ability to move around like an actual person with thumbs and limbs. lol
Really, I loved Homefront at first. But I was on an even playfield for about a day. And I don't see how people played it so much so fast, since there are so few maps and modes. And I've realized it's like CS:S, but CS:S is so much more fun to me.

Just curious can someone give me a better understanding of what a Walk up Game is? To me is sounds like a couple of gamers going up to a game with everything set to default, you play as is and see how you do. Best example is arcade games that we (perhaps some) still play at actual arcades.

thanks! :)

This is actually a good example... I am going to have a computer (arcade) system setup that will be running the game in question with all the settings the way they will be for everyone. You walk up play the game (level/round/map) through I record the score, we will announce a win later in the day once as many people have a shot or multiple shots at it.

With the walk up, I do hope we have more than one shot. I know I'm particular about mouse and keyboard settings, and for example I play audiosurf using the arrow keys rather than the mouse.

I'll see about getting homefront back on. I'd love to get the achievements and be done with the game.
And some LoL would be great. I have been out of it for so long, so I'd probably get mad at sucking so bad since everything has changed about the game, but I want to try.

we are still debating on one try or multiple tries. Part of the problem is a staff member would have to stand over the game. One try would keep it fair and prevent any confusion with multiple attempts. But on the other side of things most people require a little adjustment time

One practice, then the real thing.... or just let them try 2x and take the best score..... Honor system with screenshots is another method....

I figured it would work as free practice, and players would go to the staff members in charge to tell them they want to do an official run. Of course, if they see someone practicing excessively, hogging the computer, or doing things on it they shouldn't be doing, the staff have the right to disqualify such a player.
