I didn't really see this posted anywhere and I wanted to be sure that I don't have any complications when trying to enter the LAN (in addition to remembering a power strip and CAT5 cable): is my 8-character registration code the mechanism by which we'll be allowed entry?

It hasn't really been anything so complicated in the past. Show up, give them your handle, get your wristband, unload your gear.

We keep it simple, if someone came and said they were you. We would figure it out quickly once you got to the event :)

You stop in at the desk located on your left when entering the building. Tell the staff at the desk your username. Fill out your raffle ticket with your username. Then head to you seat that you picked (Its marked with your username). So I when in doubt Username. In all seriousness I have never heard of anyone having any issues, or needing a registration code. Should be fine. One a side note is anyone else getting that excited its almost LanOC time feeling. I'm starting to get geared up a bit!

Cool, thanks for the replies. In retrospect, that's how we originally did it at school. When the LAN grew to 100+, we did start issuing tickets with a code if they bought them in person or they were given their code online. But, when they showed up, we still just asked for the gamer handle and that was it, lol. So yeah, simple seems to work. Thanks again!

Besides, we hog-tie and string up people that impersonate others and play "beat the imposter" with the cords of our mice.
