zotactitleWe had the chance to speak with Zotac USA's President Sean Tang about the past, current, and future direction of operations of ZOTAC. Not only that we had a chance to get a little insight on their interest in events like GeforceLAN and even LanOC. Click to find out what he had to say.

Sean Tang- President of ZOTAC USA

Being established in 2006, Zotac is a very new company on the market. How have you matured over the past 5 years and what do you expect to see in the next 5 years?

I do not think that maturity is quite the correct word. I think the word maturity implies age and while people might get wiser with age the basics of a sound business philosophy have been around since the beginning of civilization and they are not likely to change. It does not matter if you are in a service business or manufacturing businesses the basic philosophy remains the same—satisfy your customer.

I am a consumer as well as a businessperson. I know how I like to be treated as a consumer, and I know what motivates me to purchase from one company as against another. I need to feel that the company has integrity and that I can trust them to do the right thing for me in any given situation. Whether I purchase a product or a service, I need to feel that the company will be there to help me if I need it, and make things right if for some reason there is a problem. As a company, we do our best to emulate that philosophy; therefore, it is not what we have learned through maturity that counts, but rather it is our constant striving to do better at satisfying our customers that is important. Even though we sell to resellers, we understand that the consumer is the most important link in the chain. If they are not satisfied, they do not purchase our products from resellers, and it just keeps moving up the chain. In short, we believe that the consumer is our most important asset

Why did Zotac decide to get involved with GeforceLAN?

Every business needs to let its customers know who they are and what they offer. The GeForce LAN party is a fun way of interacting directly with the gaming community. This interaction is valuable because it helps us design products that are directly in line with our customers needs. The gaming community is an important segment of our customer base. In this regard, we are constantly on the frontier of new developments as we continue to manufacture the highest quality NVIDIA graphic solutions in the industry. In keeping with this policy, we want to make sure that we remain on the leading edge at all times.

LanOC is known for our love of orange as is seen on our website. Zotac is also known for their use of orange. Was there a specific reason that Zotac went with orange over other colors.

I wish I could provide you with an interesting and complicated answer to this question; however, our parent company has been using this color scheme for years and we just continued the theme. Of course, we don’t want to overlook the marketing fact that these colors do stand out when sitting on a retailers shelf.

What makes Zotac stand out in an already crowded GPU market?

In every situation, there is always a person or a company that stands far above the crowd. Sometimes you cannot pinpoint the exact reason. We would like to believe that it is our integrity, perhaps it is our striving to please the customer, or maybe it’s our exceptional products and customer service. Truthfully, if I could pinpoint the exact reason, we would simply focus on doing more of it.

Currently Zotac’s motherboard lineup is focused on Mini ITX configurations. Will that continue or is there a chance we will see other form factors in the future?

This is and extremely difficult question because the industry is in a state of constant change. Obviously everyone would like to be a visionary; however, I can tell you that we have a think tank and many R & D people at the parent company that are constantly working on improving existing technologies and experimenting with new ones. In general, we know that the industry is moving toward products being smaller and more centralized in that one product is able to do multiple functions. For example, the cell phone industry is creating phones that allow you to do anything from a simple phone call to remotely starting you car in New York while you are in Africa. I must admit,  I don’t think I will ever have much use for that application, but then again…who knows. In my opinion, there is no substitute for the experience of large high definition screens; therefore, I think they will be around for a while. Everything else is in the minds of the visionaries.

Thanks very much for your time; we are looking forward to seeing what Zotac has to offer in the future. If your first 5 years is any indication, we should expect to see a lot more of Zotac.

You might call him obsessed or just a hardcore geek. Wes's obsession with gaming hardware and gadgets isn't anything new, he could be found taking things apart even as a child. When not poking around in PC's he can be found playing League of Legends, Awesomenauts, or Civilization 5 or watching a wide variety of TV shows and Movies. A car guy at heart, the same things that draw him into tweaking cars apply when building good looking fast computers.
