Interested in what case he got.

Did he go with a 256gb SSD and a 980X? Cross's fingers!

I find repeated suggestions which belong in a $1,000 experienced-builder thread to be quite unuseful, potentially confusing, and grating in a $500 inexperienced-builder thread. Apparently I'm alone in that assessment.

I take the tight budgets of other gamers quite seriously & do tend to become vulgar when I encounter those who are quite liberal in suggesting how others spend their limited resources based upon popularized misinformation while displaying a general lack of reading comprehension. I guess this makes me a big bad meanie in a politically correct, fluffy-mittens, & soft-words world.

I hope I've said all I need to say to Leon about this build. Good luck with it Leon :cheer:

I see that wingless is trying to present his thoughts on the "new budget rig" but i agree we need to move on from the SSHD and talk reasonably about the future of this guys Frame Per Second. Maybe if there was another thread titled "I have $1,000.00+ and looking to build a PC" we could bring SSHD's into the mix. I just don't agree with the term i7 ever being mentioned as it's not going to happen on a $500.00 budget. Neither is the idea of a SSHD and another HD to store a movie as the 30GB SSHD suggested would be instantly consumed with windows & a few games plus your 1 favorite Pron video...

pfffff, 3? why not just go for gold with 4?

So he could build a budget system or have one 480, tough decision.

Yea...it's always hard to determine what you can slack on when building a budget build. Everybody has their personal opinions when it comes to that subject. Although, I have seen some nice "expensive" parts go for VERY cheap. So suggesting more expensive parts isn't completely crazy. I found a build worth $1000 for $400 on Craig's List before. Just gotta be patient and keep looking.

Good Luck!!! :woohoo:

Lol Wow I missed some stuff. Haven't been on the forums regularly. Nor online.

Anyways, all I have so far is the video card, GT240. I love that name. And I was wanting Nvidia graphics card (which I have now), AMD proc, whatever mobo works to make those both work effectively. I don't plan to do SLI with this, but that would be a nice perk for the future, if I can have that support for little to no extra cost.

I may be able to go over $500, but I do not plan to go X4 nor SSD. I like the sounds of X6 in the future, so a mobo that would support AMD AM3 or whatever would be good.

And yes I still need to get an HDD, optical drive, mouse, headset, PSU, proc, mobo, RAM, anything else needed to run a computer that i don't know of besides the video card...

No not yet, don't know that I will have that much utilization of SSD.

BTW retitled again to make it more accurate to what the topic is about now. Guess I could've made a new topic but this is arguably cleaner.

No pics yet, may be able to have some down the road. I also got an Acer 23 inch screen from ZkTaylor, awesome thanks bro. And thanks to Wes for the case. Wish it was the HAF X, but this is close.

Anyway, I feel proud of doing it from scratch, and I feel I got good equipment for what I the price ($526.90 before rebates). Other than the keyboard, everything in my rig will be new for me. I feel like I got what I wanted, at good prices too. It feels like it will hold up well as a gaming rig, and the main things I would have to upgrade way later would be CPU and graphics.

I want to know how that green drive works. I have the 2TB drive and it works very well not slow at all. Then agian, i'm using if for Porn, music and such. Feels the same as my black drive. Glad to see that it's coming together.

Let me know if you want my G19. I want to get rid of it. I'll let it go for $60 if you want it.

The G19 requires a dedicated AC power source? As in USB is not enough to power it? It looks this way from what I have read on it. I don't really look down at my keyboard enough to use the screen, so I'm not sure how useful it would be for me. Thanks for the offer, but I think JJ is more interested than I am in it. :)
