Just got a ShootMania Beta access email.

Anyone else got one?

Yessir, getting it installed as we speak.

Got mine when I got home from work. Played it for about an hour today. Not to shabby but it will take some getting used to.

So what is the big hype about this? I've heard a bunch of stuff about people leaving Tribes for this, and I don't get it. Looks like UT mods. And since it's from Ubi, it must be pay to access and/or infectious UbiDRM.

Glad to see Nadeo do more, but I'm just not feeling anything from what little they've shown.

God I suck at FPS...

Tribes is soo much better than this game, so far, imo.

To be honest I haven't seen much hype for this and from what I've seen you are right it just looks like Tribes or Unreal Tournament with Tron like avatars shooting red or blue lasers. I've got my eye on it but to be honest to 100% interested.

Just let me know if it's the new TF2 and i need to buy it/install it before the next LAN

I saw it at at work and forgot about it until now. I'll have to check it out but uhg. I need to install everything on my new drive - don't really want to do that.

Several in the Tribes competitive scene are looking to this, mostly because it has a solid base in replaying and spectating. There again, I feel a similar vibe to LoL vs Dota2; League lacks natural replays and such, but is still huge from a competitive and pub scene.

This could be fun to tool around with, but I've got a bad feeling about it. The Ubi background, the Maniaplanet platform, the staged releasing of themes, the small and short maps, and the awkward browser-style system from TM all make me worry. Despite replays and reporting features, TM Nations is still hacked to hell online, and this could be far worse. Racing cheaters don't cause as much rage as FPS cheaters. And worst of all, it could become like TF2 in the massive amounts of modes, maps, skins, and be an unwelcoming place for beginners. I don't mess with TM aside from LANs for this reason (plus the cheaters).
