So they really are trading cards. Could be a great way to get people into MMOs, hoping they add Planetside 2 support. I don't play any of the current games besides Dota 2 rarely.

Levels, backgrounds, emoticons, wow this update could make Steam like Raptr or something. Interesting.

Would be interesting to check this out I think. I was an have been majorly into CCG's in the past so much that it was almost obsessive collecting. Like having to have 5 of every card 4 to use in play decks and 1 for a collectors set to go into storage.

Well the current system looks interesting but could be problematic. A person can only unlock half a deck at most, so trading is a must. There may be a game to play with them in the future, but somehow I doubt it. Getting down to it, it's a nice profile update that pulls some ideas from gaming social networks, but at the core the trading cards are more digital items that Valve hopes people exchange in the Market, and since they are limited numbers per user (unlike item drops in other games) they will be far more valuable. I'm interested, but still skeptical.

I got into a discussion about how this beta is so psychologically engineered to be appealing while making easy money for Valve.

So Dota2 isn't showing up for me to get cards, do you have to put in $9 to even get a card?

Do you need an invite just add me. By the way I'm enjoying the trading card beta a ton, but one thing that bugs me is the 4 or 5 card drop cut off. I put 6 hours in Half-Life 2 since I got in the beta, and I want to finish it again, but I wish if you spent the time to beat the game you would get more cards. Like I said I'm really enjoying the beta, but that's one thing I wish worked differently.
